About Me

My photo
Hull is the city of my birth, but I have lived in the Beverley area for the past 20 years. I have a family in Hull and a family in Australia. Travelling to shores, both near and far, is often on my agenda. What keeps me young at heart? My grandchildren and my zest for life.

LIBRARIES

East Yorkshire Libraries provide a first class service and so far we are very fortunate. We have not had any major cut-backs. I use Beverley Library on a regular basis. I listen to audio books and just finished The Wise Child by Jeanne Whitmee. I love books by Mary Higgins Clark, just read Remember Me. At the moment I am reading A Stone's Throw by Fiona Shaw. She recently read  from her book at the Beverley Literary Festival. I also read non-fiction when researching for my novels. One of my current books is Demobbed, Coming home after the Second World War by Alan Allport.

My latest novel The Yearning Heart is now published by Magna Large Print and is in libraries, together with my other Large Print Books, The House by the Mere, and To Have and to Hold.

I am interested to hear of the Library Services in your area.

NIAGARA FALLS

Recently I travelled to Canada and America. The most spectacular sight I saw was the magnificent Niagara Falls. Exploring the falls from the deck of the Maid of the Mist was awesome, breath taking and the noise of the falls was thunderous, but thrilling. On landing, I was absolutely drenched with water, but I didn't care.

Alpine Region of Victoria, Australia

I toured the spectacular Alpine Region of Victoria, Australia. It was December, summertime and yet on the highest mountains, the temperature was only 8c. The trees and bushes all leaned one way and were leafless, the result of fires which had once raged the mountains. Over time, with the extreme cold and heat, the barks and the branches of the trees were bleached to the palest of white so that when the sun shone on the them, the mountains shimmered and were bathed in a silver glow. It was one of the most magical highlights of my tour.
